Usually, American Police selects domestic vehicle brands, such as Chevrolet, Ford (most frequently used) and Dodge (seldom used). The photograph below exhibits real police cars applied in the USA.

Police cars vary among different usages, states and counties in terms of models and colors. Apart from the variants, all of these police sedans are specially made to be solid and strong enough. If you pay attention to the muscular front bumper, you will find them much stronger than that of civilian cars.

The photo below shows a normal cockpit of American police sedan.

The cockpit above demonstrates standard configuration of police sedan in the USA. Every additional equipment is customized, including the big, thick laptop. The whole center console is refitted and modified by suppliers, such as switches of alarms, light bars, radios and so forth. Seating in to cockpit, I experienced the console for a while. It’s not that boring and complicated to operate the console and, exactly, I found it convenient and durable.

To my surprise, most police cars in the USA are equipped with big guns like rifles, which could been often seen even in the most prevailing models of police sedan. The backseat of police sedan is for criminals. Although these guns are locked to the sedan, they can be unlocked in a short time once the car is started. After the exhibition, these sedans went back on duty and faded away in the street. I was joking with my colleagues: foreigners have to cooperate with American policeman once being intercepted on the road because they not only have pistols on their belts, but have big guns in their cars as well.

Therefore, all details of these sedans demonstrate strict demands for security. Criminals are dangerous and inclined to hurt innocent citizens. American police regards lives of citizens as the most important thing. Thus, they spend a great deal of money in police sedans to fight evils.

Citizens in the USA tend to respect police vehicles in reality. Thus, it is rarely seen that citizens compete with police vehicles driving sports cars, unless they are purposely seeking for troubles. Here’s an experience of my own, once, my partner and I drove a demo car equipped with all gears for a police vehicle for a test (the car was not even a real police sedan and the paint wrote a big “DEMO”). After driving on a highway for some time, we wanted to take a break and started to drive slowly in the slow lane. To our surprise, a long queue formed behind us because other vehicles were just following us instead of overtaking us, even though the alarm and warning light of our car were both off.
